Video shows Canadian PM Trudeau praying with Muslims at mosque

A video documenting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to a mosque in Canada has recently emerged, showing him joining Muslim worshipers for evening prayers during Ramadan in 2013, nearly two years before he was elected, the CIJNews website reported on Monday.

Trudeau was leader of the Liberal Party when he visited the Jamea Masjid mosque in Surrey, British Columbia, in West Canada.

In the video, he is seen wearing traditional Islamic clothing as he delivers a speech that he begins with the Muslim greeting “peace be upon you.”

In his speech, he thanked worshipers for granting him the honor of praying with them, adding that the values of the holy month of Ramadan were also Canadian values.

Canada passes M-103 motion against Islamophobia

Canadian politicians have passed a motion that condemns Islamophobia and requests that the government recognise the need to “quell the public climate of fear and hate”.

The non-binding motion, which condemns “Islamophobia and all forms of systemic racism and religious discrimination”, passed on Thursday among a divided parliament.

It asks a parliamentary committee to launch a study on how the government could address the issue, with recommendations due in mid-November.

The study should look at how to “develop a whole-of-government approach to reducing or eliminating systemic racism and religious discrimination, including Islamophobia,” the motion says.

Liberal MP, Iqra Khalid introduced the motion, also referred to as M-103, last December, but it gained significance after the January attack on a Quebec mosque that left six Muslim men dead.

“I think that we need to continue to build those bridges amongst Canadians, and this is just one way that we can do this,” Khalid said after the vote in parliament.

The motion garnered an online backlash, petitions against it and nationwide protests. According to local media, Khalid has also received death threats after introducing M-103.

Critics worried that condemning Islamophobia barred them from criticising Islam, which could curtail the right to free speech.

Trudeau pledges to fight Islamophobia one year after mosque shooting

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Islamophobia and racism are to blame for the murders of six men in a Quebec mosque last year and can never have a place in this country.

Trudeau made the assertion Monday just hours before he was to attend a vigil in Quebec City to mark one year since a gunman killed six and injured 19 others when he fired into the Islamic cultural centre during evening prayers. Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard, along with opposition leaders, will also be there to commemorate the grim anniversary.

In speech in the House of Commons earlier Monday, Trudeau called on all MPs to stand against Islamophobia.

“We owe it to (the victims) to speak up and stand tall and explicitly against Islamophobia and discrimination in all its forms,” he said.

His call to action received just tepid applause, conjuring up memories of the heated debate about the use of the term Islamophobia which took off after Liberal MP Iqra Khalid introduced a 2016 motion which also called on parliamentarians to condemn Islamophobia and all forms of discrimination and have a committee study how to combat it.

Trudeau is a traitor to Canadians. His love for Muslims over the love for Canadians is in no way hidden from view. I believe he is a Muslim convert and GEORGE SOROS is at the other end of Trudeau strings controlling every move he makes. TRUDEAU is a TRAITOR to our country and to Canadians. I believe he is out to destroy Canada.
